No books will be issued on Saturday, Sunday and other holidays.(During summer and winter recess the library is ready to serve its users).
The Central Library of Lalbaba College plays a pivotal role in teaching learning process of the college. It is always ready to support the academic activities of the college. The library has a rich collection of text and reference books in all the academic disciplines under U.G. courses offered by the college. Besides, it houses periodicals both in English and Bengali languages, newspaper, CDS/DVDS and other e-resources for the use of its patrons. The present library and reading room (Netaji Subhash Shatabarshiki Granthagar-O-Pathkaksha), situated on the first floor of the college building, was inaugurated by the then Vice-Chancellor of University of Calcutta Dr. Rathindra Narayan Basu on 17th February 1997. All the books in the library are organized according to their subjects. Call number is assigned to the books following the standardized classification scheme, i.e., Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. For subject heading Library of Congress Subject Heading is followed. SOUL software (SOUL 3.0) from INFLIBNET, Gujrat is used for automation of the library's in-house operation.
The library conducts seminars, webinars on various contemporary topics. It organses a programme called "VRIDDHI" once in a month to develop awareness and skills on various current topic among the students, teachers and other staff. Lalbaba College Library also conducts an educational tour with the students of IDC 1 (Library and Information Studies) every year. Library has an active MOU for library collaboration with other 18 libraries.
