The Department of Sanskrit was started in the year 1964. Only Sanskrit General course was offered at that time. After long decade the Department started to offer the Sanskrit Honours course in this subject in the year 2008. The Department offers only Under Graduate Degree course. The Prescribed syllabus of Calcutta University is carefully interacted among the students. The Department also helps in updating students knowledge including the applied aspect of the subject that also motivate and prepare students for future learning. The success rate in the Department has been almost hundred percent. Seminars, special lectures, periodical lectures, tutorial classes are arranged by the Department on various aspects of the syllabus by renowned academicians from different universities for the up-gradation of the students. The Department provides an enriched common platform for interaction among students for betterment of the diversity of Sanskrit language and literature. The Department also encourages the students for future research activities.
